We wanted to talk to Theta as he could give us insights into how an experimental musician would deal with failure, as well as from his life as a researcher, as someone who has found a way to combine art with life.

In this episode of the Failure, Understanding, Care (& Kunst) podcast, we speak with artist, critic & often time curator Inger Emilie Solheim.

Inger Emilie is a friend we have known for some years now since we moved to Tromsø. We have previously worked with her when she presented the solo exhibition "Den skogløs skogen" in Folkeparken, Tromsø, as part of our "F.U.C(&K)" programming in 2020.

 

We wanted to talk to Inger Emilie as she is someone who could bring multiple unique perspectives to the podcast series, as well as her reflections from working to the manifesto as part of "F.U.C(&K)". She is Norwegian and Sami, from the very, very high north of Norway (Alta), works as a critic and a curator, and - as an artist- has worked on many unique projects that we have seen her involved in, including her taking on the role of a "healer", and, on another occasion, as a sweet maker.

In this episode of the Failure, Understanding, Care (& Kunst) podcast, we speak with artist Anne Haaning.

Anne is the first guest in this series not to have previously worked on a "F.U.C(&K)" project, or made work to the manifesto rules. We decided to meet up with Anne and talk to her anyway as we thought she would provide really interesting insights into our main topic of conversation, failure, as well as bring perspectives from her time as both an architect and an "artistic researcher", i.e. studying for a Fine Art practice PhD.

 

So we talk, of course, about our main topic of failure, Anne's transition from architect to artist, and reflecting how art can be a form of knowledge.

On Failure: Episode 4 with Stuart McAdam

In this episode of the Failure, Understanding, Care (& Kunst) podcast, we speak with artist Stuart McAdam.

We talk, of course, about our main topic of failure, as well as reflecting on this trip to Tromsø, and how he combines his roles as an educator with being an artist.

 

We have experimented with a footnote format in this episode. There were many obscure abbreviations of English words in this episode, as well as some very specific references to people and places in Scotland which we felt required some explanation, particularly to audiences who are unfamiliar with the U.K., and the Scottish art scene.

Whilst travelling back to our home city of Tromsø from Stockholm via the overnight train this August, we stopped off in Umeå, a city in the north of Sweden.
